Dear SHED Supporters,
In 2021, SHED marked a significant milestone: serving our 500th University City resident since our founding in 2009. This year, I’m excited to share that we made a meaningful difference in the lives of 65 more seniors in our community!
As we mark 15 years of service, it’s important to recognize that the majority of the homes SHED volunteers serve are located in the 3rd Ward — homes owned primarily by minorities who are long-time residents with low-to-moderate incomes. SHED’s work is about more than just repairing houses; it’s about preserving the fabric of our community and ensuring that our neighbors can continue to live in safe, comfortable homes.
Looking ahead, we are optimistic as we witness the ongoing growth in the 3rd Ward, fueled by the additional funds allocated through the I-170 redevelopment project. The new businesses emerging along the Olive Street corridor are a testament to the potential for transformation in our community. As that transformation continues, we remain steadfast in our goals: to improve the quality of life for University City residents in need and to ensure SHED becomes a truly resident-driven organization that empowers and serves the 3rd Ward.
This vision would not be possible without the dedication and hard work of our incredible volunteers. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to our mission, and for your time over this last year. May the future bring even more growth and success for SHED and University City.
Sincerely,

Mimi Taylor-Hendrix
Board Chair
