Our Board of Directors continues to grow with the addition of two dedicated community leaders. Please join us in welcoming Sharon Logan and Ed Brandt, whose lifelong commitment to University City and passion for service will help strengthen SHED’s work in the years ahead.

We love seeing our Youth Career Development Program in action! Excited to report that last month, five School District of University City High School students gained valuable hands-on carpentry training and earned a paycheck as part of this year’s summer program.

This spring, SHED hosted two volunteer work weekends that brought neighbors and community partners together to help local homeowners with much-needed exterior maintenance.

This summer, SHED is pleased to welcome Mark Dowell as an AmeriCorps Summer Associate through the Serve the Lou AmeriCorps VISTA program.

Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our community, SHED’s first-ever online auction raised $820 to support our Youth Career Development Program.

We are excited to share that Mimi Taylor-Hendrix, SHED’s Board Chair, has been named a recipient of the 2026 Resident Leadership Award by the Community Builders Network of Metropolitan St. Louis—one of just seven leaders recognized across the region!

Thank you once again to everyone who attended or participated in SHED’s 2026 Housing Fair! Held in April at Refresh Community Church, the annual event brought together banks, lenders, and community organizations to connect residents with the resources they need to achieve and maintain homeownership.

The City of University City recently welcomed two new team members whose work will strengthen community connections and support residents across generations.

SHED’s 2024 annual community meeting was held on Tuesday, November 12th at the University City Public Library. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the evening’s discussions!

SHED recently concluded its 2025 four-part online home-buying and homeownership series in October with a final session on “Appraisals and Inspections.”
