SHED’s 2024 annual community meeting was held on Tuesday, November 12th at the University City Public Library. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the evening’s discussions!

SHED recently concluded its 2025 four-part online home-buying and homeownership series in October with a final session on “Appraisals and Inspections.”

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out for this year’s Fall Work Days! In total, 121 volunteers (!!!) generously contributed a combined 289 hours

Roll up your sleeves and make a difference at SHED’s upcoming Fall Work Days on October 11-12, from 9 AM to noon! Volunteers work in teams of 3-4 to tackle minor exterior projects like gutter cleaning, light painting, and yard work—helping homeowners keep their properties safe and well-maintained.

Exciting news: SHED has hired Joel Pugh as our first full-time Executive Director! It’s a major milestone for the organization—16 years in the works—and one that was made possible thanks to a generous capacity-building grant from InvestSTL.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the open house on Crest Avenue. One of SHED’s biggest goals has been to create quality, affordable housing right here in University City—and we are thrilled to share that construction is now complete on our first home for a first-time buyer.

We are excited to share a free new tool to help households navigate and access state and federal benefits programs.
