SHED’s Taylor-Hendrix Presents at Senior Lunch & Learn

Thank you to everyone who attended the recent Senior Lunch and Learn seminar at the University City Public Library! We were honored to join forces with our friends at U City in Bloom for an engaging conversation about how our organizations serve the University City community.

During the session, our Board and Community Outreach Chair, Mimi Taylor-Hendrix, shared SHED’s 16-year journey of helping U-City seniors safely maintain and repair their homes, as well as explained the full range of other services we provide, including homebuyer education, new home construction, and our youth career development program. Mimi also fielded great questions from residents on issues like dealing with dying trees along sidewalks, finding trustworthy handymen, and connecting with your local council members. Overall, it was an informative event, and we are grateful for the opportunity to participate!

Even better, there is still a full lineup of Lunch and Learn seminars on the calendar! Presented by the University City Senior Commission and Aging Ahead, the next one, “How to Lower Your Property Taxes,” will take place on June 13th and feature State Representative Jeff Hales.
