Home Rehab Program
The Home Rehabilitation Program builds on SHED’s ongoing efforts to preserve and revitalize existing housing throughout University City. By addressing more significant interior and exterior repairs, the program helps homeowners maintain safe, stable houses while protecting the character and long-term vitality of the community.
Projects may include exterior improvements, structural repairs, landscaping improvements, accessibility modifications, and other rehab work that extends the life of existing homes and improves neighborhood curb appeal.
A unique component of the program is its commitment to workforce development. Whenever possible, SHED employs local high school students through our Youth Career Workforce Program, providing meaningful exposure to construction, landscaping, and skilled trades. Through mentorship and practical experience, participants gain valuable job skills, build confidence, and develop a stronger connection to the neighborhoods they serve.
By combining housing preservation, community investment, and workforce development, the Home Rehabilitation Program strengthens both homes and the people who call University City home.
