Thank you to everyone who attended the recent Senior Lunch and Learn seminar at the University City Public Library! We were honored to join forces with our friends at U City in Bloom for an engaging conversation about how our organizations serve the University City community.

In April, SHED successfully hosted its second annual Housing Fair & Seminar at Refresh Community Church on Hanley Road. It was an informative morning filled with expert-led sessions, practical tips, and actionable resources covering everything from buying a first home and securing financing to maintaining property and building long-term wealth.

While home repairs remain at the heart of SHED’s mission, we continue to find new and meaningful ways to contribute to the stability and revitalization of University City’s 3rd Ward. 2024 was an exciting year as SHED began constructing its first single-family home, hosted an inaugural housing fair, and continued its informative home ownership education series.

This year, SHED and its financial partners are again hosting their popular four-part online Home Ownership Education Series, designed to give current and future homeowners the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.

SHED recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new home it will build at 6543 Crest Avenue in University City. It’s the first project in SHED’s new Home Building Program, which seeks to purchase vacant lots in the 3rd Ward and construct single-family homes that will be sold to first-time, low-to-moderate-income buyers.

SHED’s 2024 annual community meeting was held on Tuesday, November 12th at the University City Public Library. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the evening’s discussions!

In 2021, SHED marked a significant milestone: serving our 500th University City resident since our founding in 2009. This year, I’m excited to share that we made a meaningful difference in the lives of 65 more seniors in our community!
