SHED Is Hiring an Executive Director

SHED (Sustainable Housing & Equitable Development), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving University City residents by providing volunteer-driven home maintenance support, home repair funding, affordable housing development, community planning, and workforce development training, seeks an Executive Director to execute the organization’s mission.

SHED is a resident-driven organization focused on empowering U-City residents to help shape the future of their neighborhoods. The ED will oversee the day-to-day operations of SHED and work with the board of directors on long-term strategic planning and program implementation. A successful candidate will bring a positive attitude and work to build a more sustainable and impactful organization. The candidate should be a good communicator, self-motivated, a creative thinker, and well-organized.

The duties include (but are not limited to):
●  Expanding and managing a growing donor list
●  Maintaining and expanding partnerships with other local and regional nonprofits
●  Developing and implementing program designs for home repair, housing development, 
and career development programs
●  Creating and managing the organizational budget
●  Seeking and completing grant applications for a variety of potential funding sources
●  Building relationships in University City with partners, including the City of University City, 
School District of University City, residents, and stakeholders
●  Managing SHED’s board, including committees


Preferred Qualifications:
●  Bachelor’s degree in a related field
●  Experience working in the nonprofit sector
●  Master’s degree in a related field (social work, urban planning, community development, 
public policy, real estate development, etc.)
●  Experience with Google Drive, Facebook, Instagram, and WordPress are all pluses
●  Laptop computer, internet access is needed (the job is remote)

Compensation:
Commensurate with experience
. This will initially be a part-time or contracted position until sufficient funding is secured to convert to a full-time position within the organization.
