This year, SHED and its financial partners are again hosting their popular four-part online Home Ownership Education Series, designed to give current and future homeowners the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.

SHED recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new home it will build at 6543 Crest Avenue in University City. It’s the first project in SHED’s new Home Building Program, which seeks to purchase vacant lots in the 3rd Ward and construct single-family homes that will be sold to first-time, low-to-moderate-income buyers.

SHED’s 2024 annual community meeting was held on Tuesday, November 12th at the University City Public Library. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the evening’s discussions!

In 2021, SHED marked a significant milestone: serving our 500th University City resident since our founding in 2009. This year, I’m excited to share that we made a meaningful difference in the lives of 65 more seniors in our community!

On April 6, 2024, SHED hosted its first annual Housing Fair & Seminar. The half-day conference was held at University City High School and featured informative sessions aimed at helping new and existing homeowners.

When he started his sophomore year at University City High School, Da’Shaun Calicutt knew that college was not for him. It was a confusing time as he went to school uncertain about why he was there and his future.

What an incredible year 2021 has been for SHED! Twice as many homes were serviced this year as last! SHED reached a milestone of 500 U City residents served since its inception in 2009!

The carpenters at the job site wield circular saws and nail guns, wearing steel-toed boots, tool belts and safety goggles. They look like a professional construction crew, but they’re University City High School students working for credit.
